James Floyd Miller

He was born on May 6th, 1945, in Shreveport. La. to his parents Willis P Miller, Sr., and Juanita Churchwell Miller.

Jim was an author, a poet, and an artist. Jim held a BA in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. He also worked on a master's in journalism at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in Chicago, and a degree in Educational Teaching.

He wrote his first book of poetry at age 19 entitled Love Death and Man Between. His second book of homoerotic poetry entitled Neon Lights. His third book was co-authored with his identical twin brother Jerry Miller entitled The Day the Rain Came Down: Abused, Addicted, Alive. His final book entitled Dimitri and Ivan’s Love Affair and other Stories.

Jim was able to overcome 5 addictions and maintained sobriety until his passing. He led a peaceful, happy life.

Jim is survived by his sister, Sallie Maxwell of Colorado Springs; his brother, Willis P. Miller of Fayetteville, AK; his uncle, Bob Churchwell and his wife, Dot, of Hermitage, TN; his identical twin brother, Jerry M. Miller and his partner, Alden Vasquez.
