Jane Audrey Nelson

Born on June 22, 1940, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Jane lived a life marked by kindness, strength, compassion, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she touched countless lives with her generosity, integrity, and warm spirit that made everyone feel welcome.

Jane graduated from Plattsmouth High School and went on to build a remarkable 38-year career in the insurance industry at Mutual of Omaha. She was known for her nurturing heart, independent spirit, love of animals, and the many collections she treasured throughout her life.

Above all, Jane cherished her family. She found great joy in spending time with loved ones, celebrating holidays, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. Her love, guidance, and encouragement will remain with all who knew her.

Jane also enjoyed playing Keno and solving cryptograms, finding happiness in caring for others. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her quick wit and for passing out candy to friends and even strangers—a simple gesture that brought smiles to countless faces and reflected her generous heart.

Jane is survived by her niece, Rebecca Blackmon, her husband, Greg, and their daughter, Avery; her nephew, Frank Reeves, his wife, Stephanie, and their children, Landon and Addalynn; as well as many dear friends whose lives she enriched through her kindness and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Persinger Nelson; her father, Charles Nelson; and her sisters, Yvonne Nelson and RoseMary Reeves.

Jane will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, beside her mother, sister, aunt, and lifelong best friend, Jan.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the countless memories, the love Jane shared so freely, and the legacy of kindness, generosity, and compassion she leaves behind. Her life was a blessing to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
