Janet Kay Bullock

Janet K. Bullock, nee Jackson, was born on June 25, 1942, and passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the age of 84. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Raymond Jackson, and her son, Jay Casey Bullock, who passed away at the age of 34. Janet grew up in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and worked in her parents' cafe and bakery. She attended Colorado College in the late 1960s to pursue a teaching career.

In 1975, while teaching elementary school, Janet saw that many students had trouble understanding math. She and her fellow teacher, Lynn Strand, created a multisensory way to connect numbers with counting. That idea became TouchMath, her lifelong work—a program that made math easier for struggling learners.

Janet believed every child could learn math with the right support. Through TouchMath, she helped students build confidence and gave teachers a simple, practical tool to make math clearer.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janet will be remembered for the lives she touched and for the dedication, creativity, and perseverance that defined her work. Her legacy is carried forward each time a child uses TouchMath to understand a number, solve a problem, or experience the confidence that comes with learning something that once seemed difficult.

Janet is survived by her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Bullock, and her grandsons, Logan Sferrazza and Tyler Komrofske. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched with her kindness, care, and generosity.
