Janet Kay Kovach, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026. She was born on May 24, 1943, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Edward Arthur Hines and Thelma Ferne Hines. Janet was the youngest of five children and was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. Janet graduated from Highland High School in Milford, Michigan in 1961.
Janet proudly served her country in the United States Air Force. While attending technical school in Amarillo, Texas, she met the love of her life, John. After just 17 days of dating, they knew they had found forever and were married. Together they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, and family.
After her military service, Janet worked at the United States Air Force Academy until her retirement. Retirement opened the door to one of her greatest adventures—traveling across the United States in their motor home with John. Eventually, they found their winter home in Mesa, Arizona, where they enjoyed spending several months each year with family and friends while continuing to call Colorado Springs, Colorado, home.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband, John Kovach; her children, Joe Kovach (Brenda) and Jennifer O'Canna (Cory); nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters- in law- Zorene (Clint) and Sandra (Larry) all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Janet's greatest loves were her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ. She treasured every moment spent with those she loved, whether gathered around a game of dominoes, playing bingo with family and friends, going to karaoke, or dancing the night away two-stepping with her lifelong partner, John.
Though our hearts are broken and she will be terribly missed, we find comfort in God's promise of eternal life. We rejoice in knowing that Janet is now at peace in the presence of her Lord, and we look forward to the day when we will see her again in Heaven.
