

Jeffrey Ralph Bream, age 60, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away peacefully, on May 24, 2026 at Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care in Colorado Springs, CO. Jeff was born on June 8, 1965 to Philip Allan Bream and Constance Mae Bream (Westcott) in Barstow, CA where his father served in the US Marine Corps. Jeff was the baby of four children.
Growing up Jeff lived in several places until his father retired from the US Marine Corps and the family moved to their home state of Iowa. There Jeff attended Shimek Elementary School, Central Junior High and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1983.
Jeff received an Air Force ROTC scholarship and studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Iowa. Upon graduation in 1987, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force and started his career at Patrick AFB in Florida as a Program Manager working with space systems. Jeff continued his Air Force career in the space field at Hanscom AFB MA, Los Angeles AFS CA, Wright Patterson AFB OH, Scott AFB IL and finally Schriever AFB CO where he retired in 2008 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Days after retirement, Jeff began work as a civil service government employee at Schriever AFB CO. He retired from civil service in 2022.
During his assignment at Schriever AFB CO, Jeff met his wife Dena in 2004. They were married in Colorado Springs, CO in 2006.
Dena introduced Jeff to Curly-Coated Retrievers and dogs sports. Jeff loved the dogs. He trained them for hunting and enjoyed many hours in the field with his dogs. He competed with and titled several dogs in AKC and HRC Retriever Hunt Tests. He showed them in conformation at dogs shows including several Curly-Coated Retriever Club of America National Specialties. He trained, competed with and titled his dogs in many other dog sports. When not playing with his dogs, Jeff loved to target shoot, garden and cook.
Jeff is survived by his wife Dena; his father Philip and step mom Carol; brother Allan and sister-in-law Maria; sister Julie; nieces Chloe, Molly and Gabriella and dogs Dewey, Leo, Griffin and Nellie. He is preceded in passing by his mother, Connie Bream (Westcott); his sister Laurie; nephew Brian; and dogs North, Banner, Eli, Poppy, Summer and Wiley and cat Barfield.
