

Jeffrey Todd Higgins passed away unexpectedly on June 11th, 2022 in Palisade, Colorado while mountain biking the Palisade Plunge. He was born January 24, 1969 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His parents Ron and Mary Ellen Higgins were stationed at Fort Campbell as Ron served in the Air Force. Jeff’s family returned to Colorado Springs when he was only one. Jeff always considered himself a Colorado native.
Jeff was a devoted husband and father, loving son and brother, and caring friend to many. Jeff had a love for all things outdoors. He loved mountain biking, fishing, hunting, boating, surfing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and paddle boarding. He loved both playing and coaching lacrosse. Most of all Jeff loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jeff graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver and pursued his master’s degree at Regis University. He excelled in his career and had a love for helping people. He spent the last 4 years with United Health Care as the Director of Medicare and Medicaid sales.
Jeff passed away doing what he loved. He is survived by his wife of 27 years Amy Higgins, son Blake Higgins, daughter McKinzie Higgins, father Ronald Higgins, mother Mary Ellen Higgins, brother Daniel Higgins, sister Kelly Morgan, and large extended family.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 2030 West Colorado Ave. in Colorado Springs. Interment for close family and friends will be held at Crystal Valley cemetery in Manitou Springs. Arrangements made by Swan Law.
The family is forever grateful for the efforts made by all entities to assist Jeff. We also want to thank the communities of Palisade and Grand Junction for your support. The family is working with Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Association Inc. (COMBOBA), Mesa County, local municipalities, and Search and Rescue to support the mountain biking community while working to prevent further casualties. All donations will be donated to this cause, and a memorial for Jeff.
