Jeff passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on May 18, 2016, due to complications of lifelong diabetes, with his wife, Barbara, at his side.
He was born in Oakland, CA to Jim and Jeanne (Switzer) Morehead, on September 21, 1952. He grew up in the Bay Area and attended Pacific High School in San Leandro. One of his favorite jobs was working at the Oakland Metro Airport, re-fueling, taxiing, cleaning, maintaining, and eventually learning to fly the aircraft.
In 1976 he moved to Seattle and met Barbara Thompson. They were married June 19, 1976. They had no children. Jeff worked as a machinist and metal fabricator, as well as a cabinet maker for many years.
In 1996 Jeff and Barbara decided to embark on a grand adventure, and moved to French Polynesia. They spent nine years on the island of Bora Bora. They both worked as tourist guides and helped their Polynesian co-workers improve their English. It was one of the happiest times of Jeff’s life. They returned to the U.S., and settled in the Black Forest area in 2005 to be near Barbara’s family.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father and his mother. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his brothers, Mike (Alison) Morehead, Curtis Morehead, Keith (Lesley) Morehead, and Tim (Tricia) Morehead, and a sister, Cindi (Bart) Foutch; as well as several nieces and nephews. Two cats, Mr. Kat, and Misty, were his favorite daily companions.
At Jeff’s request, there will be no memorial service. His ashes are to be scattered at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements under the direction of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service, Colorado Springs, CO.
