Jerald "Jerry" Alan Simpson

Jerry was born on January 17th, 1947, in Seattle, WA, to Otis and Virginia Simpson. He was the 3rd out of 6 boys: Dwain, Scott, (Jerry), Thom, Steven, Patrick. Dwain passed away before the rest of the brothers were born. Jerry was enlisted in the Navy by the time his youngest brother Patrick arrived.

Growing up in Seattle, WA, he loved to work on cars and build things. In the Navy, he went to college for nuclear physics and served on a submarine during the Vietnam war. He loved drafting and not only designed the blueprints for a home for his family, but built most of the house by himself.

Jerry fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Janice (Wegener). They were married on September 23rd, 1967. Together they had two daughters, Dustine (Dustie) and Laura. After moving often in the Navy, he decided to raise his children in Colorado Springs, CO. When they were grown he moved to Woodenville, WA, to be closer to his parents, brothers, and daughters. During their retirement, Jerry and Janice loved to travel. They were able to retire at 51 years old, bought a motorhome, and begin spending winters in the New Orleans, LA, area, to spend time with Janice’s side of the family. They eventually moved back to Colorado Springs, CO for the last 2 decades of his life.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice, both of their daughters, 4 of his 5 brothers, 10 out of 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 nieces, and 5 nephews.

A Visitation for Jerald will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

A Military Graveside Service will occur Monday, May 1, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.

A Reception will follow on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
