Born on February 18, 1985, in Denver, Colorado, to Edward and Kimberly Tenbrink, Jeremiah brought joy and energy into the world from the very beginning. He spent his early years in Denver before the family moved to Colorado Springs, where he grew up alongside his younger brother, Josh. The two shared an unbreakable bond that lasted a lifetime.
Jeremiah was a gifted athlete and a natural leader. At Harrison High School, he excelled in football, cross country, swimming, and diving, and was a proud member of the JROTC program. He still holds school records in swimming and competed at the state level, earning the admiration of his teammates and coaches alike.
In 2003, Jeremiah welcomed his two sons with his then wife Courtney Guthrie, Orion and Zachary. Becoming a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. In 2004, Jeremiah answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Navy. He served honorably for eight years, first as a machinist mate aboard the USS Cleveland and later as a Navy Rescue Swimmer with the HSC-12 Golden Falcons squadron. He deployed three times and participated in the storied “Crossing the Line” ceremony, marking his passage across the equator.
While stationed in San Diego, Jeremiah discovered a deep love for the ocean. He became an avid spearfisherman and spent countless hours at the beach, diving and exploring the sea. The ocean became a place of peace and reflection for him—a sanctuary where he felt most alive.
After his military service, Jeremiah returned to Colorado and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He began a new career in software development and remained active in veterans’ support groups, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.
Jeremiah found joy in the mountains, hiking and exploring the outdoors. He cherished time with his sons and his mother, Kimberly, and her fiancé, Larry. One of his favorite activities was indoor rock climbing with Zachary, a hobby that reflected his adventurous spirit and love of family.
Jeremiah is survived by his sons, Orion and Zachary Tenbrink; his mother, Kimberly Tenbrink (Larry); his brother, Josh Tenbrink; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Tenbrink.
Jeremiah will be remembered for his strength, his laughter, his loyalty, and his unwavering love for those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on July 12, 2025 at Swan Law and Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Veterans Foundation Lifeline for Vets in Jeremiah’s honor.
