

Our beloved Dad, Joe Favatella Jr peacefully passed away on October 13th, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Valdez Colorado, the youngest of 4 brothers to the late Joe and Nell Favatella.
He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating, he joined the Air Force, where he was a pilot and part of the civil engineering squadron. He married our Mom, Ruth (Hawkins) on February 11th, 1961. He retired from the Air Force after serving 20 years, moving back to Black Forest, Colorado. He loved camping and fishing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Many family vacations were spent at 11 Mile State Park and Turquoise Lake. He loved sports, watching his favorite teams: CU Buffs, Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and the New York Yankees. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, and hockey.
He is survived by his three children: Michael (Coleen) Favatella of Colorado Springs, Joanne (Don) Howard of Yoder and Theresa (Rob) Gillis of Castle Rock. His grandchildren: Erin (Dan) Stone of Colorado Springs, Brianne (Ely) Martinez of Colorado Springs, Andrew of Andover, Hope (Cody) Howard of Tampa, Erica (Alessandro)Delia of St. Petersburgh, Samantha Davis of Colorado Springs, and Bobby (Julia) Gillis of Colorado Springs. His great grandchildren: Makayla and Michael Stone, Charlotte Ruth Martinez, Isabel Howard, Cooper and Kinsley Davis and Alexis, Emily, and John Gillis.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday October 28th at 10:00 am at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Private burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative, Colorado Springs 80906.
