Johanne Hunter

Johanne H. Hunter beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on January 25, 2015. She was an only child to Garford and Irene Huenefeld, born in Elizabeth, New Jersey March 21, 1941.

She graduated with a BA degree in education from Louisiana State University. On August 12, 1961 she married David M. Hunter, MD. The teaching became home making with the arrival of children.

Johanne loved animals; dogs and horses were her favorites. She maintained a strong faith and was active in church. Friends and family were a special part of her life.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted husband David M. Hunter, loving children David (Jill) of Midlothian, VA, Michael of Colorado Springs, grandchildren Katy (Matt) of Richmond, VA, Trey of Midlothian, VA, brother-in-law Andy Hunter of Baton Rouge, LA and niece Kellie Ann and the Villarreal family of San Antonio, TX.

Reception and gathering will take place Monday, February 2, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Director’s, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO. A Celebration of Life memorial is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada, Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your local humane society for the preservation of animals.
