

A committal service for John will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80910.
John H. Burt, 85, of Colorado Springs, Co, loving father and uncle passed away April 29, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born August 11, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts.
John enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduation from Brookline High School. His service took him to Japan where he met his loving wife Seiko. A decorated Vietnam Veteran, he received numerous awards and honors, to include the Bronze Star, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three Oak-leaf Clusters for years of combat service in Vietnam, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. He retired in 1977 at the rank of Master Sergeant. As a second career, he continued with Civilian Service as an air logistics consultant for the USAF, fully retiring in 1993 with a combined total of 37 years faithful service.
In true retirement, John enjoyed travel, ocean cruises, fishing in Alaska, and working on computers.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Seiko Burt; parents Chesley and Alice Burt; brothers Walter J. Burt, and Harold C. Burt; sisters: Virginia H. (Raymond) Bowling, and Lillian (Robert) Blank.
Remaining to cherish John’s memory is his son, James Burt of Colorado Springs; his sister Barbara Jean (Eugene) LoVerde of Toms River, New Jersey; and a brother, Stephen R. Burt of Fairview, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A service with full military honors is scheduled for 2 p.m., June 2, 2023 at Dignity Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs. John and his wife Seiko will be interred together at this time, with a celebration for life to follow.
