John Richard Megow, 76, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on 29 November 2020 after battling Alzheimer’s and kidney disease. He was born to parents Harold & Mary Jane (Bachas), on 5 September 1944 in Milwaukee, WI.
He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and his Master’s degree from Texas A&M.
John worked in software development & program engineering for early satellite technology. He served in the Airforce and in the private sector.
He enjoyed serving as lector and eucharistic minister during mass, singing barbershop, working in community theater, making puns, telling jokes, and volunteering at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church food pantry.
John met Judy Girard in 1993. They were married on February 11, 1994 in Colorado Springs. They shared many things in common including their love of volunteering in the community, playing board games, and attending the Colorado Springs Balloon Classic. They also shared the same birthday!
John is survived by his sons, Andrew Megow and Jeremy Rowan; his daughters, Karen Rowan, Kristin Rowan, Heather Rowan, and Amy (Megow) Boren; and by his friend Marty Thomas.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Girard, his brother, Timothy Megow, and his parents, Harold & Mary Jane “Micky” Megow.
The family has entrusted Dignity Memorial with the arrangements. A rosary service will be held at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life and mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church on June 4, 2021, 6455 Brook Park Dr. in Colorado Springs. Longtime friend of John & Judy, Father Brad Noonan will preside. A reception will follow at Nancy Lewis Park.
