John Victor Noack Jr., 54, Colorado Springs, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at Memorial North Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1967, in Orange, CA, one of two children of Linda J. Christian and John V. Noack Sr. He spent his childhood years in Phoenix, AZ and the surrounding area. He then lived in the Washinton D.C. area, Pittsburgh and Chicago area.
On August 20, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cynthia M. Strobel. They raised their two daughters, Mikayla and Annika, in Glenview, IL where they lived for 11 years and Colorado Springs when they moved 14 years ago. After moving to Colorado Springs, CO, he was a parishoner of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1994. Upon graduating he was a Cardiac Surgical Nurse at Children’s Hospital Chicago on the heart transplant team . He was trained as an R.N. First Assist focusing on cardiac surgery and was skilled at robotic surgery. Upon moving to Colorado, to be closer to family in Arizona and Colorado, he worked for UCHealth Memorial Hospital system, until recently, in surgery and several other capacities. He was well liked by patients and co-workers, who have said that he made work fun.
John loved his family and taking care of people. His was a life of generous acts for family, friends and strangers. John was Mikayla’s day 1 BFF, her coach for everything and the one person that would always match her weirdness. Annika was John’s special little princess/helper. He taught her vehicle and yard maintenance and even how to drive backwards before teaching her to drive forward. He loved coaching his daughters’ basketball, softball and soccer teams, from kindergarten through high school. He made sure he was at every one of their games no matter what it took. He encouraged the players, Mikayla and Annika included, beyond what they imagined they could accomplish. John was his 6 year old grandson Ryker’s best bud (aka Da), spending hours a day playing or swimming with him and teaching him how to do “man stuff” around the house. He was known in the family for his peculiar sense of fashion, like wearing cowboys boots and cargo shorts for special occasion celebrations and shorts all winter.
Before he became a father, John stepped in to be a father to his toddler niece and infant nephew, whom had tragically lost their father. He generously gave of his time to help care for them. Even as they became adults, John was there for them as an advisor, counselor and confidant, especially in his last months. Whatever he was doing, if medical help was suddenly needed, he was the first to jump up and try to help. When his great-niece was only days old and stopped breathing he jumped across the room to help save her. John fancied himself a baby whisperer, every inconsolable baby was a challenge to him and he did not stop until the baby was quiet or asleep. He was always glad to lend a hand to neighbors and friends.
John reveled being in the sun but also sitting outside watching thunderstorms pass overhead. He loved scuba diving and played all sports including water polo, adult hockey, softball and white-water rafting. His dream was to live on an island and lead scuba excursions. He was an avid Cubs fan, taking Mikayla to Wrigley Field on the EL train and taking the family to Denver when the Cubs were in town. Although he grew up in Arizona, his favorite team has always been the Green Bay Packers, he was a die hard Packer fan along with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cindy, his children, Mikayla (fiance Matthew Telli) and Annika, his grandson Ryker, his sister Sheri (Santos) Leon of Peoria, AZ, step-father Earnest Wilson of Sun City, AZ and step-mother Carol Noack of Arvada, CO; his aunts/uncles: Bill Christian, Jodie David, Duane (Carol) Noack, Dale Noack, Lori (Paul) Plato; his cousins: Josiah (Adrienne) Brennan, Jessica (Tyson) Ellis, Marcia, Eric, Pam, Brian and Chris Christian, Chris Hilderbrand, Bria, Paul and Ian Plato, Carly (Jarron) Rheinlander; his in-laws: Imelda Strobel, Deborah (Daniel) Fassbender, Mark (Peggy) Strobel, Suzanne (Kurt) Konicke, Karla (Dale) Georgeff, Greg Strobel and Bart (Tonya) Strobel; his nieces/nephews: Devney Leon, Devin (fiance Hayley Ulm) Leon, Dillon Leon, Jeffrey (Julie) Fassbender, Jenna Fassbender, Joel (Sharm) Fassbender, Andrew (Silvia) Fassbender, Peter (Caitlin) Fassbender, Alena (Marvin) Cash, Aimee (Leon) Schaper, Philip Fassbender, Alicia (Thomas) Sparks, Mark Strobel, Ellyrie Condeleo, Paul Revord, Issabella Konicke, Jeni (Jon) Steinheiser, Michael Georgeff, Taylor Strobel, Jordon (Gregory) Flanegin and Mackenzie Strobel along with his 24 great-nieces/nephews.
