John Stuart Pentland, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather entered into Heaven peacefully on July 27, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Colorado Springs on October 10,1960. He was born to the late William James Sr. and Mary Alice Pentland and is survived by his older brother William James Pentland.
John graduated from Widefield High School in 1978. He joined the US Air Force in 1982 and served at Lowry AF Base as Security Policeman. He attended Pikes Peak Community College and received an Associate/Applied Science in Criminal Justice/Patrol Degree and attended the Police Academy in 1987. He served in the El Paso County Sheriff's Office as Patrol/Investigations and Homicide Detective. In 1999 John was hired to serve the Fountain Police Department as a Detective Corporal and in 2004 became Sergeant of Investigations and a Patrol Supervisor.
Family, friends, and Ford Mustangs were his passion in life. He thoroughly enjoyed classic car shows and anniversary vacations to Hawaii with Jan. After retirement, holidays were treasured as “Santa and Mrs. Claus” who was available for school and home visits.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Jan Pentland; loving children Joshua (Laura) Pentland of Colorado Springs, Matthew (Nichole) Pentland of Colorado Springs, and Benjamin (Rachel) Pentland of Tahleque, OK; and 3 precious grandsons Aaron, William, and Benaiah Pentland; and joins his second son, Matthew Pentland with Jesus.
A Celebration of his life will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs CO 8091, following burial with full police honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
