

Jonathan Hadley Paxson, beloved son, brother, and uncle passed away on September 17, 2012 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born in Colorado Springs on January 3, 1956 the first of two children born to Roy W. (Bill) Paxson and Marilyn J. Paxson.
Jon graduated from Wasson High School in 1974. After graduation he worked as a welder before being accepted into the Colorado State Patrol Academy. He worked as a State Trooper for 2 years. He then joined the Colorado Springs Police Department in 1981. His many roles included Patrol Officer, Vice & Narcotics Detective, General Investigations Detective and Airport Police Officer. During his tenure, he received numerous awards including Officer of the Month, written commendations, and the Medal of Valor. In 2006 he retired from the Police Department having served 25 years.
He loved to travel to exotic places such as China, Europe, Cyprus, and Hong Kong. Since his retirement he enjoyed pursuing oil painting and acting in local plays such as Fiddler on the Roof.
Jon is survived by his parents; his sister Valerie J. Campbell and her husband Dale, and his two nephews, Brian Roy Campbell and Andrew Dean Campbell all from Tulsa, OK. He also leaves behind a host of family, friends and colleagues.
Visitation will take place Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 24, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Hope Church, 640 Manitou Blvd, in Colorado Springs. Private burial will take place at Floral Haven Cemetery, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
