Joe ( Joseph Durbin) Yates, beloved husband, father, son, and brother passed away suddenly on August 18, 2021. He was born August 11, 1964 in Lebanon, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Yates Sr., and Mary Helen Jones Yates, his brother Daniel, father-in-law Michael Powers and adopted brother Don Anderson.
Joe came to Colorado Springs while serving 4 years in the army, at Fort Carson. He had numerous professions over his lifetime, most recently at Front
Range Disposal. Family and friends were extremely important to Joe - there was nothing he would not do for loved ones or complete strangers. Some of his passions were golf, fishing, reading, skydiving, scuba diving, Cowboys football, river rafting with his son Cody, and the ocean - something he shared with his daughter Makenna. Steffanie and Joe shared a deep love for each other, as well as comedy, music, movies, and the Bee Gees.
Joe is survived by his wife of 28 years, Steffanie Michelle, and his children Cody Joseph, and Makenna Cathryn, his mother-in-law Robin Brown, as well as his siblings: Freddy Wayne, Steve, Gerard, Jody, Timmy, Anne, Cabrini, Angela, Collette, Jeremy and their families. Joe will be forever missed by his extended family: adopted brother Durran Babcock and his family, Stan Powers, Lori Plante Stampher and her son Corey Plante, and Penny Glass.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, or Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
