Obituary of Joy Gannotti Wansor
Joy Gannotti Wansor passed away on August 12, 2022. Joy was born to Joseph and Beatrice Gannotti on May 6, 1941, in Oyster Bay, New York. Joy married Dennis Wansor on March 20, 1965, at St. Boniface in Sea Cliff, New York. They lived in Glen Cove, New York until 2000 and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. They began splitting residency between Colorado Springs and Gulfport, Florida in 2010. Joy graduated from Hicksville High School in New York and worked as a teacher’s aide in the Glen Cove School District. She spent many hours volunteering at her children’s schools, the Glen Cove Human Society, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Joy enjoyed caring for and spending time with family and friends. She loved having a house full of people and pets. Joy loved animals, enjoyed having a dog by her side, and spending time with her granddaughter’s horses. She was on the Board of Directors for her condominium, the Chatham, and the Town Shores Master Association which oversees her community. She loved watching sports, playing boccia, and served on the Board of Directors of the Boccia Association. Joy is preceded in death by her father, Joseph, and her mother, Beatrice. She is survived by her husband Dennis, daughter Lynn Wentland, son Dennis Wansor and daughter Karen Polito (Thomas); grandchildren, Alexandra and Cassidy Wentland, and Tyler, Chloe, and Chase Polito; cousins Michael Lombardi (Ann), Richard Lombardi (Deborrah), Judi Smith (Dane), Lisa Lombardi, Bruce Tiberio, Connie Brown (Charlie). A Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Mortuary at 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs on Monday, August 22 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Safe Landing Horse Rescue, 7005 Cooper Grove, Colorado Springs, CO 80908, Joy will be laid to rest in Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Wansor family.
