Judy Walters a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs passes away July 24 2011. Judy was born on September 26, 1945 in Colorado Springs to Sadie and Ludwig Walters. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1963. She then moved to Washington state where she lived and worked for three years.
When Judy moved back to Colorado Springs she began working at Colorado Interstate Gas Company, where she had a very long and successful 30 year career as Administrative Assistant to one of the Vice Presidents of the company.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie and Ludwig; her sisters, Mary Louise, who died as an infant, Kathy and Patricia; as well as her brothers, Frank, Bob and Jerry.
Judy is survived by two brothers, Larry Walters of Colorado Springs, and Dick Walters, of Louisville, Kentucky, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Smith of Sandy, Utah; along with many nieces and nephews.
Judy will be remembered by her family and friends as a kind and loving person with a wicked sense of humor. She enjoyed good food, needlework, taking care of roses, reading and decorating for the holidays. All of them! Christmas was her favorite with all of the ornaments, candles and Santa.
Judy was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, held many offices and was a real go getter. Over the years she participated in many events, she even helped build a float for the Pageant Parade of the Rockies for Sorority and won a trophy. She attended many conventions for Sorority and was the bell of the ball. Beta Sigma Phi was a large part of her life, she enjoyed her sisters and all of the activities.
Judy will be missed by all who knew her, her smile, her quick wit, her compassion and her tireless energy “to get the job done.” However, Heaven is rockin’ cause the Walters’ girls are talkin’.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m., Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs with a reception immediately following.
Arrangements under the direction of Swan-Law Funeral Directors, Colorado Springs, CO.
