Julie Marie Johnson

Julie lived with steady strength and a deep devotion to those she loved. Known for her loyal presence, kind heart, and thoughtful attention to others, she was beloved by many—someone whose care was constant and whose generosity was offered quietly, without condition. Even in her final season of life, her concern remained fixed on the well-being of others rather than on herself.

In her earlier years, Julie’s determination and adventurous spirit were evident in her achievements, including being named the Colorado State Women’s Field Archery Champion in 1979. That same resolve carried into a long and respected public service career. Julie served El Paso County for over 30 years, ending her storied career as El Paso County Director of Budget and Finance. Her work reflected diligence and integrity and was recognized through an award for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report from the Colorado Government Financial Office Association an honor she received many years in a row.

Julie married Donald Johnson in 1973, building a life rooted in love and steadfast commitment. Together they welcomed two sons: Michael, born in 1979, and Steven, born in 1984. Michael married Whitney in 2004. Julie was also a devoted grandmother to Ethan, born in 2011, and Austin, born in 2012 a role she held with pride, tenderness, and enduring love.

Outside of work and family, Julie found joy in reading and in collecting Swarovski Crystals figures. She was a long-time member of the Swarovski Crystal Society. Julie also shared a love of travel with her husband, and together they traveled to every state in the USA and they spent 215 days at sea travelling the world. A testament to their partnership and her enduring sense of curiosity and adventure.

Julie Marie Johnson will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength she carried with grace, and the thoughtful way she made others feel seen and valued. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she served, and the many lives made better by her presence.
