Julius Grant, passed away on June 9, 2023, at the age of 96. He had infinite love for his family; he was an amazing Father, provider, teacher, mentor, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Alberta, his son and daughter, Kevin (Bernadette) and Charlotte (Ervin), granddaughter, Brandi, great grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden and Destinee, and friends, family, and extended family. Julius was pre-deceased by his father, mother, brother and two sisters.
A Veteran of three wars, Julius was honorably discharged and retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of TSGT. He remained in Fairbanks, after his military career, becoming a part of the administration team at the University of Alaska (U of A), Fairbanks. While at the U of A, he was an active member of the Booster Club, and he and his family enjoyed many cultural activities and college sports, including a couple of Curling matches. He was also active in the Fairbanks community, serving as Chairman of the City of Fairbanks Human Rights Commission.
Julius loved all types of jazz and was rarely seen without a book or newspaper. His love of reading, jazz and the pursuit of knowledge are a few of his many legacies. To know Julius is to know that he loved the game of golf (12 Handicap), and the game of golf loved him right back. Upon arriving in Colorado Springs, Julius became one of the original charter members of the Eisenhower Men’s Golf Association (U.S. Air Force Academy). His love of golf and all things jazz took him and Alberta all around the world. He will be missed on the links and in life.
Services will be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at 10:00 am at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
