June Chatman was born June 22, 1933, on the family farm in Huntington Township, Ohio. That farm had no indoor running water, plumbing, or electricity until her teenage years. A fascination growing up were the workhorses, horse pulls, and county fairs. That farmgirl characteristic earned on the farm followed all her life in work ethic, marriage, children, and just getting things done!
June was married (after her first marriage to Don Swisher) to Carlton (Carl) Glitzke in 1990. Their marriage lasted until her death. June was the mother of Tony (deceased), Jack, Larry, Rick, and Donna from her first marriage of over 33 years. The families of these children made June a Grandma & Great Grandma several times over. June absorbed into her life the children of Carl’s first marriage of 30 years. These children are Jennifer, Samantha, Vicki, Ashley, and Tricia (deceased). Again, the families of these children made many grandkids and great grandkids.
June lists her interests as hiking and gardening (weed pulling). June was a devoted Catholic and loved seeing her “Church Families” and most of all the babies of the congregation.
June enjoyed other activities including mountain biking, cross-country skiing, RV-ing, camping (if not in a tent on the ground) and hanging out with Carl and his hobby of street rodding and car shows.
June had a flare for quality craftsmanship in art, sculpture, and pottery.
June was Carl’s best friend and will be missed by all her many families. June was everyone’s favorite grandma, and she made friends everywhere she went. One of these friends was her dog “Nico”.
June passed away on May 11 (Mother’s Day) 2025 at the age of almost 92. She will be buried in Crystal Valley Cemetery in Manitou Springs in a private family gathering.
