Karen Kay Green passed away on March 5, 2021, in her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on July 14, 1943. Her stepfather was in the Air Force, so she moved around some as a child, but the majority of her life was spent in Colorado Springs. She married Dennis Green on October 19, 1963, and she spent more than fifty years as a faithful wife, mother, sister, friend, and neighbor.
Karen was an active member of her church community her entire life, serving in a variety of roles throughout her life. She especially enjoyed quilting and other crafts, and she often helped raise money for missions through her creative efforts. Her daughter, Crystal, is carrying on her love of quilting and crafts. She also included pets as part of her family, caring for rabbits, parakeets, dogs, and other critters over the years.
Karen leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, Dennis; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Brian Lawrence; grandsons, Noah and Toby; mother-in-law, Marie Green; brother, Steve Powell; a host of friends and neighbors; and her little dog, Dolly.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave, Colorado Springs. A private family burial will take place at Calhan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project Linus (http://www.projectlinus.org), an organization that provides blankets for ill and traumatized children.
