Karen Marie Winters Weiland passed away on December 14, 2023 in Lakewood, CO. She was born June 27th, 1956 in Granite City, IL to loving parents Rollo Alan and Anita Marie (Huff) Winters. She graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1978, where she met her husband Robert Eric Weiland. In 1982 Karen and her husband moved to Aurora, CO when she accepted a job at CTG, where she was employed for over 30 years.
Karen enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid skier and scuba diver, until her dream of being a mother was realized and she gave birth to twins in September 1990. She then spent her weekends skiing, camping, and boating with her family until her children were grown.
Karen and her husband moved to the mountains of Jefferson, CO seven years ago, and quickly became an integral part of the community fondly known as “The Hill.” They could often be found four wheeling, snowmobiling, at Wednesday morning breakfasts, and hosting friends at their dream home. They enjoyed visiting with their grandchildren and grandfurbabies.
Karen cared for her disabled husband for many years, and cared for anyone who may need help, nurturing, caring, and comforting in any stage of their life. Many individuals say Karen was like a mother to them, so unfaltering was her love and care. She was a mother to all.
Karen is survived by her children Chani (Justin) Wenning and Eric Weiland, grandchildren Joshua, Alaska Jo, Jackson, and Loken, her mother Anita Winters, brother Walter Winters, nephew Alan (Maddison) Winters, and niece Melodi (Eric) Davies, as well as many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Weiland, father Alan Winters, and brother Keith Winters.
