Ken Gayland Berg, 64, passed away on Monday, December 30th, 2024, surrounded by friends and family. Born September 23rd, 1960, and raised in Colorado Springs, CO to Doris “Bevins” Mercier and Kermit Willard Berg, Ken remained a proud lifetime Coloradian. As one of six siblings, a.k.a “the Six K’s”, his family was extremely important to him. Ken also had a deep attachment to his Minnesotan aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom he loved spending time throughout his life. Ken also loved the outdoors and spent his free time hunting, fishing, camping, and drinking Miller High Life; especially with friends and family. When Ken did not have a gun or a fishing pole in his hands, he could be found at Micro Metals, where he recently retired after 44 years, holding various positions and titles. But, his favorite title, above all, was being a father to his daughter, Ashley “Berg” Mihalko, and a loving grandfather to his four grandchildren: Noah, Isabel, Lezlie, and Mia. Ken is also survived by his mother Doris “Bevins” Mercier, brothers and sisters Keith Berg, Kaylene McCerdle, Kraig Berg, Kathlene Berg, and his son-in-law Matt Mihalko. He is preceded in death by his father, Kermit Willard Berg, and eldest sister Kimberly “Berg” Rainey.
Ken was a man who could bring a smile to any face he crossed and will be deeply missed by everyone he knew. There will be a celebration of life to honor his legacy, held by the family, in the spring.
