Kenneth E. Kentner (USAF Colonel, Retired)

Colonel Kenneth E. Kentner (US Air Force, Retired), 90, of Colorado Springs, CO, passed from this life peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, May 18th, 2013.

Ken was born on October 24, 1922 in Brandsville, Missouri, the middle child and only son of the late Fred and Olive Kentner. Ken married the late Loretta M. Clancy on August 5, 1942 in Pueblo, CO. Ken bravely served his country for 33 years (1942-1975) in the United States Army Air Corps and United States Air Force, serving as a B-17 Bomber pilot in WWII, flying a variety of large aircraft during the Korean Conflict and promoted to numerous Command positions during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Stave Kentner; his son Bob (Rachel) Kentner of Huntsville, AL; his daughter, Linda Bradshaw of St. Charles, MO; his sister Jeanne Wagoner of Marshfield, MO; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great great- grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ken was selfless, a true gentleman, friend to many and served his community graciously. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he was deeply involved in many aspects of the church including serving as President of the Berean Class, assisting with the Andrew Ministry, ushering and many other roles over the years.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Ken’s honor to the First United Methodist Church of Colorado Springs Foundation “Student Scholarship Fund” or a charitable organization of your choice.

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2013, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at Swan-Law Funeral Director’s. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO, to be followed by a private burial in Pueblo, Colorado.
