Thanks for all the joy that you brought to family and friends. You have been gone a year but not forgotten. Til we meet again!

There are guys who people view as cool or awesome. Guys who are fun, easy to get along with, handsome, charismatic, knowledgeable, can handle pressure with ease and overall always seem put together. Then there are a select few in the world that are all those things and even more. Kenny Poe was one of those select few in the world. Growing up I always looked up to Kenny and wanted to be like him. He is the coolest of the cool! 
Whether it was riding in the backseat with Kenny on road trips, a family holiday or when he’d pick me up and take me around town with him I couldn’t wait to hang out with Kenny Poe. In fact, you could not be around me when I was young and not hear about my awesome cool cousin Kenny. I am so grateful of the time we shared together and the memories I have with him. Kenny influenced my life in many ways especially when I was young and he made me laugh so much. There are things I say or do to this day that are because of Kenny. 
Kenny left us all way too soon and his passing makes me cry and even though we haven’t spoke in years I am so sad that I can never talk to or see him again. Kenny Poe is truly a one of a kind great man and cannot be replaced. 

My best thoughts, wishes, prayers and everything else go out to his wife Kim, his children, my aunt, uncle and cousin. I’m so sorry guys.  

I had the privilege of working with Ken for several years. This picture is from Tel Aviv as we were chasing a pharma prospect. No surprise, we won the deal with Ken at the helm. He was a master at his craft, a legend in the software industry, and an all around great guy to be around. He will never be forgotten.

I believe we can all agree that Ken was a great person! One who I would say was "nutritious," nurturing our hearts and souls in many ways.   When one spent time with him, you were better for it.  He made us laugh, think about important things, and enjoy life. 

Ken's last months on this planet were difficult for him and his family, yet he braved though them admirably. His family rose to the needs in ways that showed their inner strengths, which are mightier than what you can see in everyday life. 

I am happy to have been able to spend a little time with Ken and Kimberly December 2021.  We were able to share some meals, some wine, and some laughs. While it was tough to see him struggle, it was beautiful to see him fight. 

My most cherished memory will be the night we celebrated something, perhaps Cinco de Mayo, as I believe Margaritas were involved. The joy we shared that night was exemplary of that which Ken was capable, willing, and eager to share with all who knew him. 

Ken, I hope you are enjoying the rarest of wines, the best of company, and are saving spots for each of us who knew you so that we may once again laugh together!

I was saddened to hear of Ken's passing. I'm sure the last few years have been a challenge, but no doubt you all handled it with grace. Ken was very special to the Kingwood neighbors. He radiated joy. We were lucky to get to know him, Kimberly, Zachary and Jacqueline, and his parents. Julia came a little later, so we missed out with her. I'm sorry I didn't keep in better touch with you all. I'm hoping Larry did with Ken. I hope you all can find comfort in your memories of him. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kim I am so sorry for you and your family. Being Mom to Kim Christ and watching you grow up together both so happy and determined in everything. I knew you would pick a husband as strong and wonderful as you are. Ken was a good person, husband & father. I wish he could of had more healthy time with all of you. He never stopped doing things especially his hobbies. He left you many great memories that you will always remember. Remember the things that meant the most to you. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr Poe for almost 15 years. He was an outstanding Scoutmaster and my father counted him among his very best friends. One thing, among many, that I admired about Mr Poe was how every day seemed like his best day ever. He almost always had a smile on his face and when you spent time with him, he made you feel like there was nowhere else he’d rather be and no one else he’d rather be with. 

One summer, Zac and I and our dads joined a scout trip to go hiking in the Rocky Mountains. We covered over 100 miles in 10 days of walking and carried all our own food, water, and gear. It was a slog, and everybody was miserable at least once on the trip – except Mr Poe. On that hike he earned his trail name “I like my” by talking about how great everything was. He liked the heavy aluminum camp chair he lugged up and down the mountains, he loved each fresh pair of socks he put on in the morning, and he had special enthusiasm for the freeze-dried chili mac we had for dinner one night. To this day, the entire Milne family uses the phrase “I like my” and when we do, we smile and think of Mr Poe.

Some of my best memories growing up feature Mr Poe, in no small part because of his infectious enthusiasm for adventures and the outdoors. My deepest condolences to Mrs Poe, Zac, Jaclyn, and Julia. Thank you for sharing such a special person with us all. 

There are no words that can even begin to ease the pain you must be feeling right now… just wishes for peace, serenity, and comfort.  Sending healing thoughts and comforting hugs to the Poe family during this difficult time. We hope that you feel surrounded with much love and support.

You all welcomed us into your TX home and made us a part of the family. Simple moments became extraordinary with you all. We feel blessed for our time and memories together. Camping, hunting, drinking w/Ken & Sean. Hours spent on the boat or in Kens workshop.

To the Poe family,
From the first day Bob and I met Ken life became more fun and adventurous for us! It began for me the day Ken volunteered to fly out to CA to help the Doyle family move to CO. It was a stressful time but Ken found a way to make us laugh through it all. He spent many weekends showing us the beauty of CO through hiking and biking. We both shared a love of wine, and I will always remember Ken when I make his delicious spaghetti sauce he recently taught me how to prepare. Ken not only built our beautiful wine cellar, but when we needed a piece of furniture to fit a specific area he volunteered to make that too. Generous, fun, a lover of life, wonderful husband, and father is how I will always remember Ken. Bob and I will miss him dearly!

Ken was a genuinely great person! It is funny that we didn't know each other in high school even though we grew up a few miles from each other on the southwest side of Chicago.  

We met at PSS Systems in 2009.  We quickly became the dynamic duo.  He was the best SC that I have ever worked with.  More importantly we became friends.  

Ken always went above and beyond in everything.  I will miss his wit and our conversations.

The only rental car that was available for Ken on a trip to Chicago.  He claimed that it was the smallest car that he had ever driven.

My second family, second dad growing up, I love you all so much. I wish I could be there in person with you. 
The memories of Mr. Poe that I have are so deeply cherished and often surface through my mind. In a gust of wind, I remember the nights headed back to the marina on The Poefect Day, the wind rushing past, the front of the boat soaring above the waves, amazing music in the background. Those moments were times I felt fearless and alive like no others. 
I think of him when I make pasta, remembering the incredible meals that we all shared so often. I think of him when I see a Jeep drive by.
His love of music was inspiring to me, he believed in me as well, and your house was always a safe place to enjoy - whether I was playing piano with Zac or singing (and badly playing guitar) with Julia. 
Mr. Poe called me Jenna Benna. He ruffled my hair, relentlessly. He gave great hugs. And he always made me feel like one of the family whenever I was over. 
Never have I met someone so vivacious - it is impossibly contagious when you are in his light. He raised three of my favorite people, kids who fully shaped me and my childhood. We have regrettably drifted in the last years due to distance, but I know that whenever we see each other, it is like no time has passed. I hope that we will all be together again soon. I miss and love all of you so much. You are in my thoughts everyday, you always were.

We have known the lovely Poe family just a few years and it didn’t take long to see the man Ken was. He was the light in every room- such wit, full of joy, and always smiling! But the thing we will forever remember and admire was how he looked for the good in all of us and accepted and loved everyone .  We have learned so much knowing him.  Ken was a precious human being and simply ADORED by those lucky enough to call him Friend. As we pray for Kimberly and the family  (and this includes Lucy!), we know they were blessed to have shared their lives with a man of such grace. Ken, we will hold you lovingly in our hearts forevermore!

The Pie’s were one of the first friend we made when we moved to Austin in 2005.  We shared lots of holidays and  parties. Ken was always such a ray of light. He will be missed greatly.

My first Club trip with Ken at Blue Martini Software in 2000.  Many more were in store for Ken over our 25 years working together.  He was the best presales person I ever worked with and an even better friend.  I will miss you Ken Poe!

When I think of Ken, the words ”fun” and “joy” come immediately to mind.  I knew Ken Poe as a neighbor and as a Boy Scout leader.  My son Joe and I had the incredible experience of spending 12 days at Philmont with Ken and his son Zac (and six others) in July and August of 2013. Ken was the adult leader on the trip, and he made each day a fun and enjoyable experience.  The pictures I have of Ken show a man with a smile on his face and, often, with both arms raised in an expression of pure joy.  Whether through sunny days or rainy days bordering on hypothermia Ken’s leadership shined.  Together, as a team of ten men and boys, we hiked 131.2 miles, over 10 days and 49.6 hours, climbed 20,110 feet and averaged 2.6 miles per hour.  Those statistics all come from Ken’s GPS device.

Ken was also a leader in our neighborhood, the Uplands in Bee Cave, Texas, serving as President of our Homeowner’s Association, and he introduced me to the pleasures of power washing.

Ken had a positive impact on those around him including my son Joe and me. He made our lives better and I will be forever grateful for knowing Ken.


 Ken is a part of many memories - Scouts, lake time, pool time, Colorado visits.  Our hearts are so sad at this loss.  Gone way too soon, but he will be remembered.  We are holding you close.

We met Ken and Kimberly almost three years ago at Mayo and I have been able to stay in touch with Kimberly over the years.  They have both been so courageous in the face of MSA.  Ken really wanted his Ice Trike to go to another MSA warrior.  The Ice Trike has been a blessing for Tim.  The photos show Ken enjoying life to the fullest. He is now free from MSA.  Our deepest sympathies to Kimberly and your whole family.    


My prayers go out to Kimberly and her family. I did not know Ken well but heard great stories of their  adventures together . I remember Ken’s gregarious personality at their wedding in Chicago and when they kindly hosted me during a medical conference there.  May he rest in peace. 

Ken and Kimberly have always been kind and welcoming to us. We remember Ken best for his generous heart and great big handsome smile.

To the family of Ken - I’m sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers.  I worked with Ken at Kinaxis for a number of years and we became friends.  He was a legendary software demonstration artist and an even better man.  I’ll remember our dinners together, the late night demo prep sessions, and bottles of wine.
