

Born July 30, 1958, in Chicago, he earned a Liberal Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana and a Masters degree in Fine Arts from that same school.
An entrepreneur by nature, he was the owner and operator of his company, The American Group, Inc., a consulting and print management firm started in 2013. Prior to that, he worked for several companies in executive positions where he was considered a remarkably skilled marketing professional, creating and executing many successful state-of-the-art promotional campaigns that employed all facets of communications.
He moved from the Chicago area to Colorado Springs in 2001, where he worked as senior vice president at Liberty Wire & Cable, Inc. Mr. Horlbeck had a recognized corporate persona, served on several industry-related boards of directors, and was heavily involved in Colorado Springs District 11educational programs for talented and gifted children.
A world traveler, he made hundreds of friends and business partners in international markets, where he was highly respected and acclaimed for his creativity and proven business skills. He was an accomplished gourmet chef, wine connoisseur, appreciated a wide and diverse range of music and had a keen eye for art of all forms.
His beloved eight-year-old son Charles, his father Charles Horlbeck, brothers Todd and Drew Horlbeck and sister Stacy Weiner survive him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.
