Kirk attended and graduated from Glendale College and Pepperdine University in California. He married Janet Marie Krause in Pasadena, California on February 19, 1971. They have one son Robert.
Kirk was a loving husband, dedicated father, grandfather and close friend to many. He loved his cigars and annual fishing trip with friends. Kirk cherished his two grandchildren, Branden and Amanda.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Janet Van Derbur; son, Robert Van Derbur; grandchildren, Branden and Amanda; sisters, Vickie and Sherry.
We were not ready for you to leave us but know you are where you wanted to be. We will miss you.
