Lance was born in Boulder, Colorado, to Virgil J. Wagner and Phyllis L. (Nagel) Wagner who both preceded him in death. Lance had three siblings…Larry Wagner (deceased), Lynn Wagner, and Cherie Gipson (Michael). He is also survived by nephews, Jake Gipson (Courtney) and Mark Gipson (Rebecca), great nephews Cooper and Zachary, and great nieces Bobbi, Mackenzie and June.
Lance was a graduate of Mitchell High School, Colorado Springs, CO. After high school, he and his brother Larry traveled to Alaska and worked for the US Forestry Service fighting forest fires. Afterwards he returned to Colorado and was employed as a laborer and welder.
He was married to Patricia Tupper who preceded him in death.
Lance could be reserved, but if considered a friend, he would gladly share whatever he had. His true passion was falconry. He became a Master Falconer and enjoyed sharing his love of falconry with Apprentice Falconers. Over his falconry career he trained over 40 raptors, two of his favorites were Tyra and Poncho. He was also an accomplished leather worker which included hoods for his falcons and raptors. Lances perfect day was to be out on the range with his hawk or falcon, his much loved dog Tweed, and his ferret Snowball…hunting and exercising his falcon or hawk. He enjoyed any activity that was outdoors and loved our Colorado mountains.
His family wishes to specially thank all of the residents, nurses, and CNA’s and support staff at Sundance Nursing home and Bristol Hospice for their tremendous friendship and expert care.
