Larry Dean Ford, age 73, of Lake George Colorado, passed away on October 31, 2022. He was born on September 26th, 1949 in Webster City, Iowa to Perry T. Ford and Eleanor J. Ford and had three siblings, Linda K. Reinpold, Dorothy J. Wood and Jerry R. Ford. He graduated from Westminster High School in 1968. He was married to Christanna V. Mathews in 1969 and together they had two sons, Shawn M. Ford on September 18, 1976 and Eric M. Ford born on March 4, 1979. He was also married to Dolores A. McFarland on September 21st, 1996. They had a memorable and happy marriage for 26 years.
Larry had careers in Metrology and Mechanical Inspection at Miller/Coors for over fourty years. He had many fond memories and good friends from his years there. He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #7949 in Thornton, Colorado.
Larry loved the Colorado outdoors and “his” Rocky Mountains. He loved dirt biking with his sons and his brother. He also enjoyed skiing, camping, fishing and hunting. Larry liked things to be done right and paid a lot of attention to detail. He planned and completed many projects- yard, boat, auto and wood working and he was not happy until everything was done right. He had a great sense of humor and he enjoyed others who weren’t afraid of some good jokes. He was always there to lend a hand and always helped while he was healthy enough to do it. Sometimes he pushed it even when he wasn’t feeling well. He loved his dogs and really appreciated nature. Larry was a loyal football fan and the Denver Broncos were his #1 team. He would spend hours on the phone with his brother-in-law, Doyce, talking about football. It was interesting and funny listening to their conversations.
Larry was very proud of his two boys, Shawn and Eric, in their personal and professional accomplishments. He always looked forward to their visits with the grandkids and the joy they brought to him.
He is survived by his spouse, Dolores A. Ford, his sons, Shawn (Stephanie) and Eric (Kiandra) Ford, his sister, Linda K. (Phil) Reinpold, his grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey and Michael Ford, and his mother, Eleanor J. Ford.
It was a lifelong dream of Larry’s to live in the mountains. That dream came true six years ago, moving to Lake George, Co. Larry loved his family and will be remembered, loved and dearly missed by everyone.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MtViewMortuary.com for the Ford family.
