ArraLawrence Dupree Wade was born February 7, 1943 in Kinston, North Carolina to Mary Southerland Wade and Andrew T. Wade. He went to heaven on March 12, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. He is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years, Mary Piwoschuk Wade (Betsy), daughters Anne and Leah Wade, brothers Jim (Dee)of Georgetown, KY and Jon Carpenter of Raleigh, NC, sisters BJ Hale of Ellettsville, IN and Kim Denton of Colorado Springs. Larry spent his early years on a tobacco farm in NC, moving to Kentucky in first grade and growing up in the Louisville area, as well as Elizabethtown, Hodgenville and St. Matthews. He graduated from Fern Creek High School and immediately entered the Marine Corps. Larry went through basic training at Parris Island and went to Viet Nam. At his discharge, he moved to Colorado to work in the US Postal Service. Larry married, had twin daughters and was actively involved with the Lord’s work. He taught Sunday School, ministered to the elderly in nursing homes, filled pulpits in the Continental Divide Baptist Association and pastored Southeast Baptist Church. Declining health caused him to give up his motorcycles, shooting and travels but never lessened his love for family, friends and most importantly, the Lord. The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and Cheyenne Mountain Care Center for their loving care of Larry. Donations can be made in Larry’s name to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association: webco.alsa.org ngements under the direction of Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
