

Laura Marie Winter passed away peacefully at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado surrounded by her children on Monday, November 10, 2014. Born February 1, 1920 in Brandon, Minnesota, she lived in Virginia and Duluth, MN before settling in Colorado Springs with her husband, Thomas E. Winter. She worked at Memorial Hospital as a nurse and then at Hewlett-Packard as an industrial nurse until her retirement in 1985. Laura loved outdoor activities and was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church. She volunteered for 27 years at the Marion House Soup Kitchen. Survivors include her three children, Jane (Abbie), Douglas and Ronald, her sister Josie Ilse and brothers George and Charles Silvola. Laura is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. and son Dewey T. Winter, her brother James Silvola and her sister Betty Knisely. Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Rd., Colorado Springs, CO. 80910.
