He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 5, 1926 to Lloyd and Opal Miller. Lawrence graduated from East High School in Kansas City and served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 in the South Pacific. He married Gladys Postma on February 1, 1947.
L.D., as he liked to be called, was a licensed Master Plumber for many years and later worked in Civil Service, construction planning and inspection at the Air Force Academy before retiring in 1986.
He and Gladys have lived in Colorado Springs since 1954, enjoying many outdoor and mountain activities. He was a member of the Roswell Community Church Board and contributed many hours to the 1986 sanctuary addition. He greatly enjoyed his family and traveling to visit his extended family and friends.
L.D. is survived by his wife and their daughter, Janice, son-in-law Steve; son, Galen, daughter-in-law Lois; son, Brian, daughter-in law Carman and daughter-in-law Martha, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda, of Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by older brothers, Raymond and Leroy, and son, Larry.
Lawrence's funeral service will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Roswell Community Church, 2728 Beacon St. Colorado Springs, Co. 80907, with viewing and visitation beginning at 9:00 am and the service at 10:00 am, followed by graveside service at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Co. 80910.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Roswell
