Lenice Caroline Presthus

Lenice Caroline Presthus, age 92 of Delaware, Ohio, died July 6, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Lenice was born October 14, 1928 in Titonka, Iowa to the late Martin and Caroline (Rode) Brandt. She was the youngest of five children and grew up on a farm. She married Joseph Fredrick Presthus on October 17, 1948 in Titonka at Good Hope Lutheran Church.

Lenice resided in Delaware for 50 years after moving here with her family in 1961. She worked at Mardee Beauty Salon, Garth’s Auctions, the American Red Cross and then was employed by the Delaware City Schools as the secretary at Smith Elementary. She retired from Smith school in 2001 but continued to be active as a secretarial substitute at all Delaware City schools through the 2007 school year. While living in Delaware, Lenice was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church. Lenice sang in the choir for many years and participated in many church activities.

In 2011, at the age of 83, Lenice moved to an Independent Living Community in Colorado Springs, Colorado to be closer to her daughter, grand-children and great-grand-children. In her new home Lenice was instrumental in welcoming newcomers and delighted in the new friends she made there. Although she never returned to Delaware, Lenny enjoyed keeping in touch with friends from St. Marks and Smith School. In May of 2017 she moved to Assisted Living and in September of 2018 she moved into Memory Care.

Lenice is survived by a daughter Jolene Bedford and husband Bert of Colorado Springs; a son Joel Presthus and wife Tamela of Delaware; three grandchildren – Ryan Bedford of Denver Colorado, Krista (Bedford) Heavner and husband Robert of Colorado Springs and Eric Bedford of Colorado Springs; four great-grandchildren, Emily Faye Heavner, Anna Jo Heavner; Preston Dean Bedford and Wyatt Bert Bedford as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lenice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joseph F. Presthus, a grandson Jaggar D. Presthus who died in infancy as well as two sisters and two brothers.
