Leonard Robert Sandoval

Leonard Robert Sandoval, 71, died on August 13, 2026. Born May 25, 1955, in Monte Vista, CO, Leonard carried the values of his hometown throughout a life marked by steady devotion, perseverance, and deep care for those around him. He lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Leonard attended Monte Vista High School, where he was a valuable player on the Monte Vista HS Football Team. He continued his education at CSU Pueblo and Adams State University in Alamosa, CO, and also attended Denver Diesel and Automotive College—pursuits that reflected a hard-working spirit and a determination to build a capable, dependable life.

Leonard served in the US Army and later dedicated many years as a Postmaster with the USPS, retiring after a career defined by responsibility and consistency. He also worked as a truck driver for Groninger Concrete Co, delivering heavy construction machinery, and retired from that role as well. In every season of work, Leonard’s resilience showed in the way he met each day with purpose, and his caring nature was felt by the people who relied on him.

Leonard is survived by his current spouse, Edie, to whom he was married for 15 years; and by his former spouse, Gail. He is also survived by four children, Stephanie, Sarah, Russell, and Ralph; two grandchildren, Angelo and Jayden; step-children, Amanda and Jesse; and step-grandchildren, Sophie, Micah, and Giuliet. Leonard was cherished, and his love for family remained a constant—steady, present, and enduring.

Leonard’s interests reflected both craftsmanship and joy. He spent time restoring old cars and trucks, and he loved hunting and camping. He was a member of the choir at St. Patrick Catholic Church and was previously a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club in Monte Vista, CO. In his younger years, he also loved bull riding and won several buckles—an early testament to the grit that would define him.

Those who knew Leonard will remember not only his excellent work ethic, but also the humor that brightened ordinary moments. His favorite saying—“I’m hungrier than a bobcat with young’ins.”—still echoes with the warmth of his voice and the easy laughter he gave so freely.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Hospice, Chaplain Evan from Compassus, Misty (CNA), and to Leonard’s family, friends, and caregivers for their compassion and support.

Liturgy of the Word Memorial will be held at 9:00AM with prelude music beginning at 8:40AM, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A Reception is to follow at the church.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be held at 12:00PM, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80925.
