Born 2-January-1959, Li-Lan spent her early years in her birthplace, Taiwan, with parents Grant Callaghan and Amy (Chen-Mien) Tsai, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. After Li-Lan became a big sister to Robert and Amy, and dad retired from the USAF, the Callaghans settled in Chula Vista, CA where the family enjoyed visiting the beautiful beaches of San Diego.
Li-Lan was an excellent and industrious student, graduating from Hilltop High School in 1977. It was during high school that she met her future husband, Tim Fishel, in 1975 in Coronado, CA. They were married in 1977 in San Diego and in 1981, became proud parents to son, Daniel. Li-Lan pursued a career in Information Technology and worked for various organizations as Tim’s profession in the computer industry brought opportunities to relocate. Together they moved between Chula Vista and Colorado Springs three times. Li-Lan obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 1994. In 2009, they became proud grandparents for the first time.
Li-Lan enjoyed ocean cruises, visiting Hawaii two times, Baja California, the Caribbean and Alaska. She practiced martial arts, including Tai Chi and held a second-degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do, along with many trophies. Li-Lan returned to Taiwan one last time and visited India with her husband on a work trip.
As a family they enjoyed helping others, hiking, traveling, road trips, beading, and computers. Family and friends were always extremely important in her life.
Li-Lan is survived by a loving husband of 47 years Tim; a loving son Daniel; two beautiful granddaughters, Ashlyn and Mikayla; her siblings and grandniece; and many more family members, friends and colleagues.
