Born in Plattsburgh, New York, on January 20, 1949, she was the second of ten children born to Moses Belrose and Mary Agnes (Tetreault) Belrose of Champlain, New York. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Champlain and married Donald Gooley on July 29, 1967. The couple soon moved to Denver, followed by Donald’s first assignment in Pueblo, where they lived until April 1968, when Univac transferred him to Colorado Springs.
In Colorado Springs, Linda worked at Walter Drake for a time and volunteered at Roosevelt Elementary. She eventually began a 26-year career at Memorial Hospital, working in Central Supply, X-ray, and Mammography.
A devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral from 1968 until her death, Linda served her church community as a Eucharistic Minister, assisted in the funeral ministries, participated in hospitality programs, and volunteered in elderly assistance outreach. She enjoyed many pursuits—cooking, crafting, and sewing—especially when shared in the company of close friends. Linda was naturally gregarious, loved meeting new people, and made loyal, fast friends wherever she went. Her bright and outgoing personality endeared her to everyone she encountered throughout her life. Her love of children extended far beyond her own family; throughout her life, she carried a deeply compassionate and tender heart for every child she encountered.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Donald Gooley.
She is survived by her three children: Jennifer (Gooley) Donato and her husband, Gerard, of Phoenix, AZ; David Gooley of Sioux Falls, SD; and Jeannine (Gooley) Combs and her husband, Daniel, of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was blessed with twelve beloved grandchildren: Isabella Villalon (Parker Mann) of Burlington, VT; Tyler Combs (Kathryn) of Johnstown, CO; Paulina Villalon (Michael Tyler) of Seattle, WA; Antonio Villalon of Phoenix, AZ; Ryan Combs (Bethany) of Durango, CO; Makenzee Gooley of Sioux City, IA; Kassondra Nanfito (Andrew) of Omaha, NE; Kylie Combs of Colorado Springs, CO; and Colleen, Aria, Gabriel, and LillyAnn Gooley, all of Sioux Falls, SD. She also leaves behind one cherished great-granddaughter, Riley Elizabeth Combs, born to Tyler and Kathryn just a week prior to Linda’s passing.
All nine of her Belrose siblings survive her: Margaret, Michael, Daniel, Richard (Crystal), Mary Bedard (Gary), Ronald, Lawrence (Vickie), David, and James.
Linda was cherished as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of the Lord, and will be sorely missed.
Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Colorado Springs, beginning with a viewing at 8:30 AM and the recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her birth into eternal life will follow at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are warmly invited to a reception at the Cathedral immediately following the Mass.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
