She was born on April 28, 1943 to H. Eugene and Viola Lee Gillette in Fairbury, IL. After graduating from Chatsworth High School, Linda was employed in Bloomington, IL as a clerical worker.
She met her future husband, Eugene C. Lemen, at a social event at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL, where he was stationed.
They were married on November 7, 1964 in Chatsworth, IL. Together, they had two children: Kevin Lee Lemen and Kristine Noelle Lemen.
Linda and Gene were stationed at several Air Force bases during his career, eventually settling in Colorado Springs, CO.
There, Linda became a dedicated and tireless paralegal at Colorado Legal Services, where she helped to provide legal services to low-income Coloradans.
Linda was a voracious reader and a passionate animal lover. She and Gene took cruises at every opportunity. She loved to laugh, and until the end always had a smile for each of her caregivers. Most of all, she loved her family.
Linda's daughter Kris survives in Colorado Springs. Also surviving are Linda's brothers Lester Gillette, Godley, IL; Dale (Gayle) Gillette, Chatsworth, IL; sister Jeanne (Mike) Scott, Fairbury, IL and sister-in-law Rita Scanlon, Bloomington, IL.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Gene, her son Kevin, her parents, her step-mother Clara Gillette, and her siblings and siblings-in-law Loren (Betty) Gillette, Pat Scanlon, Marilyn (Richard) Verville, Carol Gillette, and Mary Beth Gillette.
A graveside service will be held on December 6, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs. The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Cheyenne Village https://cheyennevillage.org/ways-to-donate/donate/ or to a charity of the donor's choice.
