Linda "Micki" Pedone passed away peacefully at her home on December 27, 2024, fulfilling her ultimate wish to spend her final moments in the place she loved most. Born on December 2, 1946, Micki lived a life marked by resilience, fierce loyalty, and unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her son Jason Pedone and his wife Lorelei Pedone of Niceville, FL, and her daughter Jennifer Stevens and her husband Aaron Stevens of Portland, OR. Micki leaves behind a legacy of love in her six grandchildren: Emily Pedone-Dennhardt, Courtney Scates, Lindsey Winans, Samantha Stevens, Jack Stevens, and Blake Stevens, as well as her five great-grandchildren: Dayton Scates, Colbey Scates, Charley Scates, Oliver Winans, and Daisy Winans.
Micki retired in 2014 after a 30-year career at the Air Force Academy, where she worked in Youth and Child Services, primarily in the Part-Day Enrichment Program. She had a positive impact on the children she worked with and was loved by staff and parents alike, many of whom stayed in touch after her retirement.
Micki’s family relationships were filled with love, devotion, and a deep bond that endured through all of life’s ups and downs. She will be remembered for her private nature, her fierce determination, and the depth of her love that spanned generations.
In her memory, the family shares this poignant poem:
Miss Me…But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little—but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me—but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the master plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do.
Miss me—but let me go.
Micki’s family invites those who knew and loved her to honor her memory privately, as she would have wished. A small memorial will be held in the summer of 2025, with details to be shared once known.
