Linda L. (Rhoades) Perry, beloved wife and very best friend of Don for almost 61 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, and close friend of many, passed away September 7, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, July 28, 1938. She is preceded in death by her parents (Charles and Violet Rhoades), a twin brother, three more brothers, two sisters, and survived by one sister. She is also survived by her husband, Donald, and son Steven, three daughters-in-law. She is preceded in death by her son, William. She is also survived by four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren as well as two nieces, a great-niece, and a great-nephew.
Linda worked in Altoona for Boyer’s Candy and Puritan Menswear. In Colorado Springs she worked as the assistant baker in the cafeteria in School District 11 at Russell Junior High. Throughout, her family treasured her work as homemaker and caregiver.
On November 16, 1957, she married Donald P. Perry in Forth Lutheran Church in Altoona, PA. Then began life as a military wife. They were stationed in Maine, Colorado Springs, Japan, Washington D.C. and back to Colorado Springs, where they stayed following Don’s retirement.
She was an active church member sharing her faith with all. Linda was a loving wife and mother with a great sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Many were guests at her table, enjoying the foods she prepared.
She loved the West, finding a loving, friendly community in Colorado Springs. She especially enjoyed Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Helen Hunt Falls, and Manitou Springs. She enjoyed baseball and football, and especially cheering the home teams of the Rockies and the Broncos. She was a collector of angels, hummingbirds, and chipmunks. She made Colorado Springs her home for 52 years.
Linda will be greatly missed by all.
