

One of the sweetest women God ever created has passed into His loving arms. Lois Jean Lucas was born to Ella Dot Heyer in Hugo, Colorado on February 5, 1922, and died on December 18, 2020. She was adopted and raised by her grandparents, Henry and Cynthia Heyer in Colorado Springs. Lois attended Lowell School, South Junior High School, and graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1940. She also graduated from Blair Business College.
On November 10, 1940, Lois married William (Bill) Lucas and they lived in
Colorado Springs until World War II when she followed Bill to San Francisco,
where he was stationed with the Army Air Corps. She was employed by the
Bank of America in San Francisco until their son, William Jr., was born. When Bill was deployed to Okinawa and she returned to Colorado Springs with young Bill to live with her mother-in-law, Ava. Bill returned from the Army in 1945 and they lived in Colorado Springs from that point on. In 1948 their daughter, Linda, was born. Bill was the manager and co-owner of Lucas Sporting Goods.
Lois began attending First Evangelical United Brethren Church when she was
seven years old and has been an active member all of her life. In the 1960s the church became Central United Methodist Church where Lois taught children's Sunday School for at least fifty years and was active in the church's missionary society. In her later years, she was a dedicated volunteer in the church's administrative office. Lois faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship for seven years.
Lois served as receptionist and bookkeeper for Pikes Peak Floral for several
years and volunteered at Central Memorial Hospital for at least twenty years.
Lois was predeceased by her mother, Ella Dot, her grandparents, Henry and
Cynthia Heyer, by her beloved husband, Bill, her brother Aubrey Benton, and her sister Patsy Benton.She is survived by her son, Bill (Iris) Lucas, and her daughter, Linda (Butch) Lippincott, her grandchildren, Jeff Lucas, Lynn (Steve) Archuleta, Lisa (Paul) Carlson, her great grandchildren, Cassidy Hessong, Ethan Hessong and Brooke Carlson.
Lois died at age 98, while residing at Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center. The
family wishes to thank all the dedicated caregivers who helped Lois so much
during her time at both Mt. St Francis and at Health Care Resort. She is terribly missed by her family, her fellow church members and her fellow volunteers. Her celebration of life will be a family graveside service.
