Lucian "Lu" John Fiandaco long time resident of Colorado Springs and Monument passed away on April 21st, 2021. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, August 16th, 1939, the eldest of two children, to the late Joseph and Angela (La Rocca) Fiandaco.
He entered the United States Air Force upon graduating from New London High School in Connecticut. During his military career he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in New Mexico where he met and married the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Margaret Hokinson. They traveled both the world and United States including a 2 year tour in Bangkok, Thailand where he was assigned to the Postal Unit. He retired while stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs in 1978. He later enjoyed a successful career with Lockheed Martin as a Purchasing Manager and retired in 2000.
In his retirement he enjoyed watching sports, especially his Yankees, taking road trips, a special anniversary trip to Hawaii, spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was proud of his Sicilian heritage and loved his culture and his pasta.
He was a fighter having survived cancer twice and fought through a long-term struggle with COPD.
He leaves behind a loving family including his wife Margaret and his children Josepha (Jo) Farney (husband Jerry), Gregory Fiandaco (wife Lori) and Catherine Dugdell (husband Mike). His three grandchildren, Olivia and Trevor Fiandaco and Eli Farney. His beloved sister, Catherine “Chickie” (husband Gene) Bissett.
