

Lyle was born September 14, 1935 at memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs to Jesse and Myrtle Townley. He graduated in 1953 from Calhan High School and attended one year at Trinidad Junior College in 1954. He worked at a company called Sand C Interprize also known as Durlite Block. In 1972 he started his own business as Townley Trucking until October 1993 when he retired. He was an active member of the Colorado Springs Bowling Association bowling in tournaments and leagues with family members. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and water skiing.
He married the love of his life, Betty Whittlesey, on January 2, 1955.
He is survived by his wife Betty, 3 Sons, Steve Townley (Patty), Lionel Townley (Rita), Brad Townley (Norma), 5 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Archie, and two sisters Eva Beaman and Janice Moser.
Services will be held October 16, 2025 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery 3825 Airport Road in Colorado Springs. Viewing will be at 10:00 am, funeral at 11:00am and burial at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
