Margaret Mary Love

Margaret Mary Love (nee LaKour), beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 26, 2014, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on October 14, 1920, to Elizabeth and Michael LaKour, as the third of four children.

After graduating from high school, Margaret left college in 1942 to join the war effort in the Women’s Army Air Corps. and was sent to Del Rio, Texas, where she met and married the love of her life, Richard Foster Love, a pilot from Colorado Springs. The couple moved to Colorado after the war, where she became a homemaker and raised six children.

She was active in the Colorado Springs Junior League and enjoyed skiing, golf (her pride was a hole-in-one during one of many tournaments,) and working in her flower garden. She also served the community by volunteering at the Marion House Soup Kitchen for a number of years.

She is survived by five of her six children, David (Cindy) Love, of Breckenridge, Colorado, Kathryn Howell (Dan) of Evanston, Illinois, Susan Love (Don Wolfe) of Padre Island, Texas, Jim Love (Diane Astourian) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Bruce Love (Barb) of Centennial, Colorado; grandchildren Margaret Love, Drew Love, Elizabeth Howell, Evan Howell, Emily Howell, Erika Cannell, Megan Sawatzki, Matthew Love, and Stephen Love, as well as nine great-grandchildren, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son Dwight, her husband Richard Love, and grandchild Richard Manz.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday October 4, 2014, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
