Margery Graham Anderson

Margery was born 4 June, 1959 in Hollywood, California to David Matthew Graham and Patricia Curran Graham. Margery was the third of their four children, all daughters. Her sisters, Virginia Knorr, Katheryn Forgrave, and Barbara Lovato live in Washington state.

Growing up with adventurous parents in Southern California, they loved to explore and camp up and down the Pacific coast, participate in Girl Scouts, and hike in the surrounding mountains. Margery graduated from Grant High School in 1977 and left for the University of Colorado in Boulder as an education and music major.

While at college, Margery met her husband, fellow student Steven James Anderson, at Lakeside Amusement Park in Denver. They married two years later on 21 August 1982. They moved back to California after graduation where they lived for six years and welcomed son James Douglas Anderson and daughter Megan Elizabeth Anderson (Lundberg) to the family and Margery established a home daycare business. A job transfer led Steven and Margery to St. Louis, Missouri where their third child, David Michael Anderson, was born. Margery continued to operate her home daycare business, allowing her to remain home with her three children. Steven accepted a job opportunity in Colorado in 1996, returning them to the mountains they loved. Margery took a position teaching fifth grade in the Douglas County school system. She continued teaching fifth grade when Steven uprooted the family once again in 2004 to support a project in northern Virginia. One last job transfer led them back home to Colorado in 2009. Margery’s health kept her home and away for the fifth graders she loved to teach, but frequent day trips allowed her to explore and enjoy Colorado even after camping and hiking were no longer feasible.

Margery is survived by her husband, Steven, their three children, James, Megan, and David, and her sisters, Virginia, Katheryn, and Barbara.

Margery is preceded in passing by her parents, David and Patricia Graham.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, 13 March 2026 at Springs Community Church in Colorado Springs. Please join us to celebrate Margery’s remarkable life in the company of those who had the privilege to know her and share her love.
