

Marianna Pope Iverson was born on November 27, 1937, in Geary, OK. She was raised in San Antonio, TX, where she graduated from Brackenridge High School. She loved Texas and her family and friends there. Marianna departed this world on September 12, 2023, in Monument, CO.
Marianna worked for 30 years as a Civil Service Worker. She worked in the Chemistry Division of the Nutrition Lab at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, was the secretary to the hospital commander while in the Philippines and completed her service at the United States Air Force Academy. While at the Academy she was a technician in the Department of Political Science and from there moved to the Office of Admissions and Registrar. When the department split, she became the Chief, Records and Examinations Division in DFR (Dean of Faculty Registrar) and moved up to become the Chief, Academic Scheduling and Space Management in the Office of the Registrar.
Marianna lived in Colorado Springs and Monument for 52 years and shared those years with her husband, Dave, whom she was married to for 60 years. Marianna supported her husband Dave as he served in the United States Air Force and the Army Corps of Engineers for 36 years. Together they made long lasting friendships with many and treasured their time socializing with them.
Marianna loved to cook, crochet, and cross stitch. She took great joy in making items for family and friends. She loved to play cards and host gatherings for family and friends, especially during holidays. She loved making and overseeing the annual candy making that began over 30 years ago.
Marianna passed with family members by her side and is survived by son David E. Iverson, daughter Kristen Iverson-Guillory, son-in-law Kevin “Gil” Guillory, daughter-in-law Sharon Iverson, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, David James Iverson and her son, Michael Wayne Iverson.
A Celebration of Life for Marianna will be held from 2:00PM-5:00PM, on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the Woodmoor Barn Community Center, 1619 Woodmoor Drive, Monument, CO 80132.
