Marie Ann Engle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs, Colorado and celebrated her heavenly reunion on October 28th, 2019. She was born in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, April 9th, 1930 the 3rd of 4 children born to the late Harry and Mary Ellen Davis.
Marie graduated from Turtle Creek High School in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart William Thomas Engle Jr. whom she met working as a clerk in her future father in law’s Murphy’s 5 &10 store. Throughout her life she worked as a clerk at JC Penney and helped her husband run and manage a family restaurant in Grangeville, Idaho.
She loved her family dearly. She also loved dancing the polka, music, dogs, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune and gambling at the local casino. All who knew Marie had experienced her tireless and loving quest to ensure all were warm and well fed.
Marie is survived by her daughters Billie Marie Spiers and Jo Ann Engle both of Colorado Springs. She has four grandchildren Allan Spiers (Amy) Cindy Fleming (Matt) Rebecca Malpass (Chris) Ben Spiers(Rachel) and 13 adorable and cherished great grandchildren, all who knew her as Gigi. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son William Thomas Engle III (Tom) and siblings Bernice Jeffreys, August Davis and Lorna Cefola.
There will be a celebration of her life on Monday, November 4th at 10:00 at Mountain View Mortuary. Lunch, of course, will follow at 11:00 (Marie would have it no other way! ) Private burial will take place in Eastland, Texas.
The family would like to thank Freedom Home assisted living for their endless devotion, care and the love they gave to Marie in her final year of life.
