

Marilyn Stephens Helgren (89) passed away on September 21, 2023 at the Sunny Vista Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado following a long illness. Born in Hahira, Georgia on April 3, 1934, she moved with her parents to their home in Savannah, GA as an infant. She attended Savannah Public schools, graduating from Savannah High School in 1952 and attending Armstrong College where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Primarily a homemaker, she was also employed by her family’s business, Stephens Motor Supply Co.
She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Jackson (CJ) and Mary Martin Stephens and her daughter Mary Ellen Helgren.
She is survived by her daughter Kathryn Helgren Janicak (Dan) of St Marys, GA and Vero Beach, FL, her grandchildren Katherine Harris Haight (David) of Plymouth, MN, Stephen Raymond Harris of Fernandina Beach, FL and Ellen Elizabeth Beebe Hampton (Charles) of St Marys, GA and her great grandchildren, Reagan Elizabeth Haight and Harrison David Haight of Plymouth, MN.
Possessing a quick wit, Southern charm and a wonderful sense of humor, she was devoted to her family and deeply loved by them.
Her family would like to thank the compassionate and caring staff of Sunny Vista Living Center, Pikes Peak Hospice, and Rocky Mountain PACE.
In her memory please plant a tree, adopt a cat or give generously to the American Heart Association.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
