Mario Machado Oliveira ,M.D.

Mario Machado Oliveira, M.D., aged 94, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on July 23rd, 2026. He was born on September 7th, 1931, in Paris, France, to Leopoldo Machado de Oliveira and Blanche-Marie (Picon) Chanoit.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Oliveira; his children, Laura Parent, Eric de Oliveira (Misty), and Daniel Oliveira; and his granddaughter, Dana de Oliveira.

Dr. Oliveira was in private practice for 50 years and also served as a clinical professor of neurology.

Mario was raised in Brazil, where he attended the University of Brazil Medical School. In 1957, he left Brazil to continue his medical education in the United States. He pursued further training at Marquette University, now known as the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed his residency in neurology at Milwaukee County General Hospital. This education laid the foundation for his distinguished 50-year career in medicine and neurology.

In Colorado Springs, he served as chief of neurology at Memorial Hospital and as a consultant at Penrose Hospital.

Mario was a Renaissance man who spoke three languages fluently. Growing up with a French mother and Brazilian father, his first two languages were French and Portuguese. He later learned English at the school he attended.

Mario had a lifelong fascination with airplanes. He learned to fly and purchased a single-engine airplane in which he and his family enjoyed many adventures throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. He and Dianne also loved traveling the world together and visited many countries.

Music played a large role in Mario’s life. He enjoyed playing popular music from the 1940s and 1950s on the piano for his own enjoyment.

His spirit will remain in the hearts of his family and live on through the stories they tell, the music they remember, and the many adventures they shared with him.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 2030 West Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904.
